Frank & Bride

These little monsters have been with me since last year’s Pixie and Toads wax haul on account of them arriving too late to debut in a Halloween post so here we are almost a year later! Still looking as dashing as ever.

Frank and Bride are both scented in crisp clean, cotton sheets which smell true to its description. Laundered and clean giving off that snuggle feeling without the harsh chemical type linen smell that some home fragrances have that are headache inducing. This is just enough freshness and it is very nice.

Bride- $2.00

Frank- $1.25

I believe these were available at one point this year but are currently sold out on the website. This year the lovely couple were scented in a tormenting blend of ginger, Jasmine and oakmoss.

Speaking of the Bride of Frankenstein, I’ve had a bit of an obsession with including her in some of my art recently. Below is one of the sketches I did off a reference photo

Have you started spoopy/Halloween melting yet? It is almost fall guys, this month has flew by so fast!

Until Next Melt,

Winter Retail- BHG & ScentSationals

Retail wax continues to amaze and draw me back in year after year with their wax. Not only is it affordable but it also performs phenomenally. What’s not to love?

Better Homes and Gardens, ScentSationals and Mainstays have a huge selection this year with some returning scents and a few new scents sprinkled within. I picked a handful to review that were in my scent preference though keep in mind there were also several others to choose from if none of these tickle your fancy. While shopping for these, I mostly was in the mood for pine so that will reflect here.

Perfectly Pine– Fresh pine combined with eucalyptus lightly sweetened with raspberry.

Love! One cube of this goes a long, long way. A very true pine fragrance that gets me into the Christmas Cheer. I love melting this near the tree while wrapping presents.

Welcome– Sweet orchard apple embellished with spicy clove, crushed cinnamon, tart cranberry, and a splash of winter pear gleams with rich nuances of aromatic evergreen and soft balsam.

Now that I am having the chance to smell this one again it is giving me a cinnamon, craft store type vibe. There is just a lot going on with this one.

Aspen Evergreen Walk– (Unable to locate scent notes)

Woodsey pine though not the sweet, sharp pine I was looking for that reminds me of Christmas.

Marshmallow Candy Cane– (unable to locate scent notes)

A step up from the “peppermint” that was Peppermint Vanilla Macaroon offered in last year’s collection. This year the peppermint is spot on and smoothed out by a decadent marshmallow. The sweetness in the package almost resembles a sweet, pink spun sugar but it does mesh into a soft marshmallow once warmed.

Iced Winter Cranberry– (Unable to locate scent notes)

Tart delicious cranberries squeezed and collected to create this winter fragrance. Icy fruit has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to fragrances whether it be iced cranberries, strawberries, pineapples, ect. Any time you add that tartness with a hint of sweetness than give it a bit of a frosty tingle, you’ve got me on board.

What are some of your favorites that are floating around right now?

Matrix Flame Candle

“Fill the room with the warm glows of candle light using the latest reinvention of our LED technology- Matrix The most realistic flicker invented, the candle comes with programmable settings to adjust flame movement, which can be viewed from 360 degrees, and provides a safe yet stunning ambiance.

I’ve been interested in the battery operated candles for awhile now. They continue to improve more and more with some of them leaving me to question if they truly are real or not until I really examine them. Some are very outrageous in price but they are all stunning with the different movements of their flames whether they are LED or an actual mechanical piece moving to reenact a flame.

Brand: Matrixflame/ Liown, Bethlehem Lights

Product: Melted Edge LED Candle

Price: $9.99 (TJ Maxx Homegoods)

Color: Slate (Smooth Finish)

Size: 3.5″x 5″

Scent: Coconut

Extras: Remote ready, 5 hour timer, runs on two double D batteries.

Please enjoy this video I’ve included so you can get a feel for what it looks like in person.

Up close I wasn’t very impressed as you can clearly tell this is LED but from a distance it looks much better and resembles a true candle flame. I enjoy using this most now as it gets colder and right around bed time when my husband and I are snuggled up watching tv and kust want to enjoy the ambience of a soft glowing candle. What’s really nice is if we fall asleep there is no harm since there is no real flame to worry about putting out or threatening your home. Safety first lovelies!

I’ve really enjoyed this candle so far and will want more in the future.

3 Days Of No Melting!?

I’ve committed a true crime guys. Three whole days of nothing being melted or even a candle lit. Shocking, I know. I can’t believe it myself. My husband even questioned me and asked if I was feeling okay since the warmer in our bedroom hasn’t been touched in awhile. It’s just on acount of no energy once I get home or no time.

So today is the day, I’m going to melt in every room! My picks for today are all fall themed!

Living Room/Kitchen Area: Super Tarts Mr Myers: Fresh fallen leaves, fireside and vanilla bean noel.

Oh guys, this is soo good even on cold. Fireside smokieness toned down by the sweetness and creaminess of the VBN. If you can get your hands on this one, do it!

Bedroom: Vintage Road Candles Mr. Gosling-Leaves Type, Driftwood, Barn Wood Toasted Marshmallow and Amber.
Another great one! I’ve repurchased this one after getting it in a fall sampler. It’s just so different for a fall scent than the normal apple and cinnamon overloaded melt. You’ve got to appreciate a good ole toasted marshmallow scent.

Bathroom: Super Tarts Bridget Jones Diary- Harvest Ale and Shaving Cream

I’m still a bit confused with this melt. It’s good but what do I truly get from it? On cold it has went through cycles of smelling like bubble gum, cider but never a shaving cream. Warmed it does change to a fall, almost wassle like cider but still is just a bit off and not my favorite. Not a repurchase.

Spare Room/Craft Room: The Bathing Garden Hades & Persephone

A Musky, fresh ozone giving off a feel of moss growing on a wet rock but also has a deep cologne type feel. I can’t decide if I like this one or not. Still debating.

What have you been melting and enjoying here recently? Let me know!
Until Next Melt!

The Bathing Garden Mini Pumpkin Halloween Sampler

It is finally that time of year!!! Which also means Halloween/Fall time at The Bathing Garden! I was so thrilled to get my hands on one of these samplers. I love the idea of having the chance to sample each of the scents before committing to clams. Without further ado, let us dive in!

Cemetery Keysvanilla tonka beans, lime citrus and sugary sweet white floral.

I could not figure out why this smelled so familar and what it smelled of but finally I linked it to what the Dragon Egg bath bomb from Lush smells like if that helps describe it to you. The citrus is almost spot on to that while having that vanillary note

Thombstone Dust- Green apple cinnamon cupcakes with a marshmallow, brown sugar and caramel glaze.

Sticky, caramel glazed granny smith apples baked to perfection in batter and topped with marshmallow fluff.

Death Becomes HerSpun sugar, white vanilla butter cream, pink sugar peppermint cookies and a sprinkle of rock candy chips.

Soft, wedding butter mints crushed and sprinkled on top of peppermint sugar cookies. Sweet, peppermint dream with a sparkle of rock candy.

Black Magic LaboratoryOrange chiffon, black velvet cake, chocolate shavings and creme soaked cookie bites.

A lovely sweet orange chiffon that adds a creamy citrus being the most dominate with a bite of dark chocolate and velvet cake lingering in the background.

Poisoned ApothecaryHot, mulled apple cider with a woody undertone.

Very earthy, almost oak moss like note blended with a spicy, piping hot cider that creates a very, wicked refreshment.

White MagicShaved cinnamon, Orange tea and hints of spicy patchouli.

Spice and everything nice.. except PATCHOULI! Spicy, spicy with a hint of spice and maybe a Red Hot for good measure.

Banshee DreamsFrosted pumpkin cupcakes, rich dark espresso, crystallized coconut shavings and white vanilla marshmallow.

First sniff? Burnt toast. Which I believe to be the rich, dark espresso burning my nose. Second sniff it does get a little sweeter but still continues with the burnt smell. Maybe for people who like espresso?

Hades & PersephoneCitrus, cognac, musk, hints of patchouli and fresh ozone

Musky, fresh ozone giving off a feel of moss growing on a wet rock but also has a deep cologne type feel.

Pagan MoonAn apple and pear groove under a blood red, strawberry moon, kissed by swirling call leaves.

Oh my, the crisp apple and pear blended with the crunchy fall leaves has me over the moon with this one. It’s almost candy like a fruit gummy with it’s sweetness.

Mummy MademoiselleCandied rose jam, sweet sticky salt water taffy and creamy white vanilla.

Rose jam is usually not a scent I reach for but this candied version is a little more palatable. Don’t be alarmed rose jam fans, this is still a strong one and it’s definitely the key note in this melt. I appreciate the creamy vanilla and salt water taffy to help lighten the blow of what would otherwise be such a strong scent.

Netherworld ZombieFreshly shoveled graveyard dirt, espresso, lime essential oils, scotch whiskey and dark chocolate shavings.

First sniff I have to admit I wasn’t keen on this one.. still don’t think I am. It came off as a skunky spray scent with the earthy tones blended with such a sour, bitter fragrance from the lime essential oils. I’ve heard many have enjoyed this one though so it may just be my preference.

Phantom Queen– Black citrus tea, cinnamon coffee and a bag full of Halloween candy.

For all coffee haters, don’t run from this one just yet. On cold it does have a slight coffee presence but the black citrus tea I must applaud for being able to come through and shine it’s bright, zesty face.

Eye of Newt- Fresh frozen water, clean air and crystallized peppermint candy.

Just wicked. Has me dancing around the room singing “Double, double toil and trouble!”  Whatever fresh frozen water is.. wowza.. ripett! It is such a fresh scent that stews to perfection with the cooling, refreshing mint of the peppermint. Highly recommend.

Season of the WitchSpicy pumpkin, cinnamon apples, ripe berries and sugar dipped oranges.

Mostly picking up on the ripe berries and sugar dipped oranges with a soft layer of cinnamon dust to garnish.

Haunted HayrideTart granny smith apples, caramel, cinnamon, pumpkin and hints of hay.

A scent that I was happy to see make a re-appearance in this year’s collection. This melts very well and strong giving off a beautiful, fresh hay scent that takes your mind  to memories of hay rides and pumpkin patches.

Colossal Pumpkin Lantern- Chocolate frosted brownies with vanilla cream pumpkin brulee.

Gourmet heavy cream whipped into fresh, pumpkin puree and topped in carmalized sugar served beside milk chcolate brownies. It’s as if you were sticking your nose in a tub of chocolate and vanilla frosting as the topping.

Hoarfrost Tonic- A refreshing scent with lime, cypress, mellow pine and cool air notes.

Weirdly enough this melt smells of clean linen hanging out on the line on a fall day.

Pumpkin Butterscotch Chip Waffles- Sweet pumpkin waffles swirled with butterscotch chips.

Sweet, rich, very buttery butterscotch that overpowers the pumpkin to my nose. Not a favorite of mine as it is just too sweet for my liking.

Charm & RuinLush vanilla citrus swirled with a fruity pomegranate base.

Bad.. bad memories arise to my nose with this one. Chalky antibiotic that I was on as a child that has scarred me to this day, is that you? Not a favorite, it smells of chalky and very medicinal to me.

Faerie BonfireA complex bonfire scent with notes of leaves, vanilla, sandalwood, and brown sugar.

Another favorite from this collection, I’d almost want this in a perfume. By no means is this Marshmallow Fireside but it’s so gorgeous and uniquely sweet without marshmallow and without taking away from being a fireside blend. A lovely balance between sweet and smoke.

Sample: Monster Candy- watermelon candy, sugar dipped orange slices, and kiwi cherry mimosas

A sweet bag of Halloween candy! Sweet Tarts, bubble gum and sour treats.

Are you ordering anything from Shannon’s Halloween Collection? She is open now! If so, let me know which ones, I’d love to see your picks!

Until Next Melt,

A Cup Of Tea- Taste Test and Review

My poison of choice is peppermint tea. It used to be plain de-caffeinated black tea but because of limited drink options due to health reasons, peppermint tea it is. Nothing like winding down after a long day with a hot cup of tea in your favorite mug. Since I don’t drink coffee it is also nice to have to occasionally drink in the mornings when I crave something hot.
As I’ve mentioned in a few post (and a few post to come) TJ Maxx/ Homesgoods has been my place of fun these past few weeks. I have found many neat things to share with you all. One of them being these Lavender Honey Spoons I’ll be reviewing here for you today.

The bag includes 5 spoons that are single wrapped, vacummed sealed than twist tied. Having them single wrapped makes them perfect for sharing or gifting to others. I can’t help but think how cute these would be in a gift set along side a tea cup and a few packages of tea!

First off let me add a little warning here that if you do decide to taste/lick this on it’s own before stirring it in your tea/coffee (hey, who am I to judge, it might be good in any hot beverage?) just be forewarned that it is strong and rather sweet! I’ve tried this on two different tea time occasions (both in which were peppermint tea) and each one was slow to melt which allows for sweetening throughout your tea sipping and let’s you control the amount with which you would like to add. The first time I was at work and had let the whole spoon melt and found it a tad too strong for my liking while this past time it melted out completely with a different brand of peppermint tea and a bigger mug and it was wonderful. I still found that I liked my two tea spoons of sugar to help balance out the peppermint but otherwise the spoon gives off a sweet candied lavender almost like what you could compare and think the sugared lavender twist melt at Wal-Mart would taste like with added benefits of golden honey.

On the search through my home for tea scents, I found that I don’t have many tea inspired melts amd candles on hand. The few I was able to find are pictured above posed with darling Miss’s Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast.

  • London Tea & Calling (Tea & Lemon) from Bath & Body mini candle and three wick
  • Tea With The Queen Bunny Melt from The Bathing Garden-This tart is the most amazing scent of roobios red tea. Very comforting and mild, just like the drink
  • Tea With Mango & Mint From The Bathing Garden- Freshly Brewed White Tea Leaves rounded out with mint and ripe mango.
  • Doomsday From Super Tarts –Plum Iced Tea & Lemon Slices
  • (Not pictured) Slytherin From Super Tarts-Honeydew Melon, Blackberry and White Tea

Are you a tea drinker? What’s your favorite type of tea? Do you like tea in wax? Let me know!

Laveau- Super Tarts

Vendor/Brand: Super Tarts

Price: $4.00

Scent: Laveau

Online Scent Description: Lavender Cream & Raw Sugar Crystal Buttercream

Throw: Strong

Warmer Used: Glade 24 Wyatt

I first experienced Brandi’s lavender cream in a sample of her Imortal Child blend which I really just didn’t care for. I knew that her orginal Go To Sleep was also very popular so I had wanted to try it for a long time but it was always sold out.

Fast forward to several months later when her Oz collection is released and one of the scents was Tin Man. Tin Man– Pink Sugar, sweet lavender cream and stainless steel. (A Go To Sleep blend)

I than quickly fell head over heels for this blend. It was so good! So relaxing and calming. It threw strong long into the night and on into the early parts of the morning with only one cube. I was super bummed when I had melted threw my one clam and just wanted to kick myself for only having picked up one. Tin Man is still to this day sold out.

After a restock of the AHS collection and one afternoon of online shopping, I ran across Laveau and after reading the notes lavender cream and Buttercream it was already in the cart. Sold.

I was thrilled to realize that it must have been the lavender cream note from Tin Man that I loved so much because Laveau hit the nail on the head perfectly and had me wondering Tin Man who?

Laveau is now one of my top favorites from ST. This is a must try if you like Brandi’s lavender cream. Decadent butter cream by the mounds full with drops of lavender swirled in to soothe you.

A very strong thrower with only one cube needed. I love that I can get away with one cube to ration and make it last longer.

Pick 4: Wonderland Warmed Review

Off With Her Head: Painted Roses, Mixed Berries, Marshmallow Fluff and Orange Zest.

Rose Jam dominate, I do get more of the orange zests and mixed berries when warmed.

Repurchase? No, it’s a bit too strong on the Rose jam for my preference but ones who adore RJ and rose in general will love this one. One cube is plenty throw.

It’s Always Tea Time: Earl Grey Tea, Tea Cakes, Peppermint Swizzle Sticks and Whipped Cream.

Tea and cakes with just the slightest touch of peppermint present. Vanilla swirls and cream by the spoonfuls sweeten the pipping hot tea. This melt is a little lighter and could stand to be melted with two cubes instead of my usual one cube melt.

Repurchase? Probably not because it isnt my favorite with the tea and cakes note but I will finish it up as it isn’t terrible. Makes for a cute picture though!

Curiosity Often Leads To Trouble: Lemon Eclair, Sweet Amber and White Nectarine.

The nectarine is rather bold in this and mostly all I get when melting and cold alike. One cube threw strong for up to 4 hours before I changed it out

Repurchase? No.

Wonderland: Apple Mango Tango, Sweet Lollipops and French Vanilla Meringue.

Happy to report that the cleaner scent has vanished and has been replaced by sweet lollies that resemble the sweetness found in the sought after Mouse Ears, Combined with fresh apples and mangos. It does have a kind of slight effervescence to it so if that isn’t your thing I wouldn’t suggest this one. I kept this on for 8 hours+ and it threw like a beast.

Repurchase?  Maybe with the sweetness of the sweet lollies it tempts me to want to come back.

What were some of your favorites from this collection?

Destination Wax- 221b Baker Street

“I’m not a psychopath, I’m a high-functioning sociopath. Do your research.” -Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Vendor/Brand: Destination Wax

Product: Wax Blocks 4 Block Option, approximately 0.75 ounces each.

Scent: 221b Baker Street

Online Scent Description: “The warm rich scent of sweet cherry pipe tobacco, vanilla, and deep, soft leather armchairs.”

This was shared with me by a sweet friend who included it in an ROAK. I was so excited to find this in my box as this was one of the scents I’ve been eyeing from DW so getting a chance to try it first before buying it in bulk as I probably would have, is amazing.

Full of mystery, deep and rich, I could see this fragrance describing the home of our beloved Sherlock Holmes. I feared that I might not like this fragrance with reading that their was cherry tobacco in the mix but it’s such an elegant scent that the fear has now vanished. This melt comes off a bit powdery to my nose on cold yet in the end turns to a thick vanilla and musk wood type scent which is what I picture would be the rich oak book shelves in the study blended with the scent of a scuffed leather armchair worn from use sitting in the corner of the room . I find that the scent lingers on your skin and in the air after picking up the wax and examining it or even the slightest peak into the bag for a sniff.

One cube threw amazingly in my glade warmer for several hours filling my home with swirls of deep thought and shenanigans. Like I mentioned above, don’t let the tobacco scare you away as this is a nice melt if you want something different from your regular routine of melting for a change of pace.

Repurchase? Yes, I could see myself buying more of this scent in the future.

Review: Pizza Time Super Tarts

“Rose’s are red, Pizza sauce is too. I ordered a large and none of it is for you.”-unknown

I was very intrigued by today’s melt and assume with as wacky as it is that it probably hasn’t been ordered much. So for grins and giggles I ordered it and decided to review it for you!

Pizza Time by Super Tarts

Scent Description: “Basil, Raspberry and Tomato Leaf. “

On cold sniff, I’m first able to pick up on is the herbal notes of the fresh basil and sweetness of the raspberry. I went in bracing myself to be disgusted yet came out pleasantly surprised.

It didn’t smell of a saucy tomato or those gastly Campbell’s Tomato soup candles (shudders). Instead, the tomato leaf gives it a mature, ripe note that blends well with the other two ingredients creating a herbal/fruity scent worthy of being a perfume. Speaking to a blogger friend, she had told me about having a tomato leaf perfume and how fresh it smelled, so I wonder if the notes on this are similar just with the added raspberry and basil.

Though this is not my type of scent I’m sure others could find this melt appealing.

Would I repurchase? No, this was just a one time buy for fun to see what it would be like. Though I’m still happy I tried it.
Until Next Melt,
