Pineapple Lily- A Bath & Body Works Review

Vendor/Brand: Bath & Body Works

Scent: Pineapple Lily

Product: 3 Wick 14.5 oz Scented Candle

Price: $22.50 (Bought Mine On Sale, 2 for 24)

Scent Description: Fresh Pineapple combines with delicate lily petals and crisp greens to create the prettiest spring fragrance.

Throw: Nice & Strong

This candle.. How has it gone un-noticed in my closet for so long? I’ve had the weirdest craving for pineapple recently and with no pineapple scented melts in sight, this really was a sight for sore eyes!

This weekend I was home and cleaning the counters when the mood struck to light a candle. After sifting through a few candles I found this one from what I believe to be from Springs collection 2 years ago.  It smells wonderfully of juicy pineapple slices mingled with a background of sweet floral lilies. Probably a close favorite along side my beloved London Calling. Both are very delicate and stunning. Of course I would find a favorite too late to stock up on it.

Tall flames burned strong for several hours, no puny wicks this time. Nice even throw across my whole living room/ kitchen area. This candle had me turning off my warmer (SHOCKING!) to just enjoy the fragrance of it alone. Very beautiful and uplifting.

Have you burned any candles recently?

The MeltdownBlog Turns One!

As of yesterday, The MeltdownBlog is now a year old! It feels like just yesterday I decided to go on this adventure we call  blogging. Time sure does fly when your having fun! I hope you have enjoyed reading along as much as I have enjoyed  sharing it with you all and getting to know most of you other bloggers. I have grown over the year to love vendor wax either as much if not more than candles, branched out in trying new scents I never thought I would like such as shaving cream blends and bakery. (In the past I wouldn’t go near anything that was food fragranced.)

To celebrate I thought I would post a link to my very first blog and a throw back to a few of my first orders along the way.

Since I’ve been a little ST obsessed here recently, here is a throw back to my very first order from them. Lord of Mordor still stands as one of my favorites to this day! Sample in Treebeard.

My first vendor experience was with Front Porch Candle Co. Ease of ordering and free shipping really had me hooked at first. I  will still suggest if you are new to the wax world to start with a vendor such as Front Porch or Eagle Rock.

The 2nd wax vendor that I ordered from was Eagle Rock Candle Co and this was the first order I placed with them. My favorite being the 7-up Pound Cake and Monkey Farts while the Leather Jacket being a favorite of my husbands.

If you’ve followed me from the beginning, my used to be favorite melt from Front Porch was her Pink Peppermint Lavender  which is what I’m melting here in my profile picture. I’ve melted it so much that it would probably make me ill now but I use to rave about it. This warmer being my first warmer and that it was given to me by my mother means so much to me while all the while being so beautiful.

If I were to blind fold you and stick this candle under your nose and ask you what you smelled, your answer would probably be like many that this test was conducted on when I asked many of my loved ones that were put under testing when they came over to my house. “Just close your eyes and tell me what you smell..” “No, I am not going to trick you, how mean do you think I am?” Don’t answer that. 😛

Almost everyone’s response was chocolate. Chocolate is usually a no no when it comes to scents like wax, perfumes, candles, ect. This fragrance goes beyond chocolate. On a deeper whiff you can pick out the graham cracker notes and the sweetness of the gooey roasted marshmallow without being bombarded by the richness of the chocolate. The candle was so infused with fragrance oil that the top near the wick was leaking small drops of oil before it was lit.

Wowza, this candle threw like a champ in my kitchen for it only being a mason jar candle. If chocolate would have been the only note this sniffer would have picked up on.. this candle would have been put out immediately but you truly get a true s’more like fragrance that had me craving Hershey’s chocolate and rummaging the cabinet for graham crackers.

My cabinets came up short but what I did find in my cabinet though where these cute yet spooky ghost marshmallows that are just perfect for this time of year! When I found these Ghoster Roasters at my local market it was an instant must have mostly for the shapes and the packaging but also because I knew they would be perfect for this post too!

Though I may have not made it to a pumpkin patch just yet and I don’t have a backyard for bonfires.. (small patch of grass in front yard.. but wouldn’t want to be evicted from the new place) doesn’t mean that I couldn’t enjoy a roasted marshmallow.. or two.

This my friends is called improvising! Ooey gooey treats without leaving your home. Yum!

Wonderberry Wax Co.- Marshmallow Fireside Wax Melt

20161002_181348

I was sent a sample of this in a swap with a waxy friend! Love the two toned colored wax and the tons of glitter on top.

Vendor/Brand: Wonderberry Wax Co.

Scent: Marshmallow Fireside

Product: Wax Melt

Warmer Used: Glade

Throw: Strong

Fiery embers, smoking wood, gooey marshmallows and a touch of vanilla. Perfection. A very close dupe of Bath & Body Work’s Marshmallow Fireside.

Now that I have moved into a bigger apartment, I have to test out what works and doesn’t work with melting in the my new space. For instance this melt was far too strong for my bathroom then also for my bedroom, so I moved it into my open living room/kitchen area and it worked fine and threw great. Other melts I have tested are great bathroom or bedroom melts because my living room/kitchen is larger than what I use to have. I’ll get the hang of the place and melting.. it’s my first week guys so hang in with me! ha-ha I will need to find a dedicated melting room which I feel my crafting room/my husbands office will do nicely.

Brand: Sassy Girl Aroma (SGA)

Scent: Cider Lane Type (B&BW)

Product: Mom’s Raggedy Ann’s

Warmer Used: Glade

Melt/Tart Count: 4 Per Package

Throw: Strong!!

Online Scent Description: “As sweet as the trip to the local apple orchard each year, a delicious fall blend of mulled cider, warm caramel and sweet cinnamon.”

Sweet fall bliss take me away! Somebody pinch me I must be dreaming. Where has this fragrance been all my life?? My nose cannot get enough of the sweet juicy apples, warm dark caramel and the deepness of the spices from the mulled cider.

Around this time of year cider scents are one of my favorites so for this to pass under my radar for so long baffles me. This is such an addictive scent and I must get a vast amount of it before fall comes to an end. I cannot give this scent enough credit on how good it really is so you have to give it a try if you haven’t already

Don’t you think these adorable shapes can pass off as scarecrows? I thought they were the perfect shape for this post.

When vendors create such beautifully handcrafted tarts how do they expect us to melt them? The intricate details on the swirl of the brim of Ann’s hat and the pipping of her hair is on point and incredible which made it even harder not to hoard this melt.

I made the mistake of melting a whole Ann/Scarecrow when in my home a full one is definitely not needed. The scent throw on this little melt was fantastic! If you have a smaller home like me you could easily get away with cutting this melt in half unless you like being punched in the nose with sweet delicious fall goodness.. if you do..by all means, treat yourself!

Does this classify as a fall melt..? Not really? Well let me explain my reasoning’s. This was a new clamshell at my local Wal-Mart that I picked up when looking for fall fragrances and when I was testing it I began thinking of scarecrows and of my scarecrow wind chime. Usually scarecrows come to mind with a bright sunflower tucked into the brim of their straw hats so what better melt than to include this one?

This reminds me of a floral perfume type scent. It is rather beautiful and one I would recommend picking up and giving a try if you like bright flower fragrances.

Fall Craft:

The scarecrow you see above is a Pinterest craft that I completed about a year ago. Being short on space from living in a one bedroom apartment you have to get creative with your decorations. If you flip our fall fellow around once the autumn weather waves goodbye, you are now ready for the chilly, frosty winter with your very own frosty the snowman!

This craft was so much fun and very easy as long as you have the tools to assemble the wooden boards together. The wooden planks are screwed together with screws and I just used acrylic paint. Both flowers I found at Hobby Lobby and removed the wire stems with pliers before attaching them with a hot glut gun.  Of course if you put this outside you would need to weather proof it with a good sealer.

A simple yet fun addition to your porch for any season!

Have you made any fun fall crafts recently? Let me know!

A Bath & Body Works Review- Autumn

A Bath & Body Works Review- Autumn

20160730_173812

Brand: Bath & Body Works

Scent: Autumn

Product: 14.5 oz. 3 Wick Candle

Throw: Light to Medium

Scent Description: “A crisp fragrance that celebrates classic autumn in red delicious apple, rich cedar wood and green balsam. “

20160730_173954

Opening:

Autumn is my favorite time of year! What a sight to see of the colorful leaves falling from the trees and blowing in the cool breeze. The feeling of fall is such a refreshing transition, even the scent of the air becomes a more crisp and clean scent. I tend to start enjoying candles again in the cooler months so what better way to start my candle reviews then with an Autumn candle?

Burning Thoughts:

Cold throw the first notes I pick up on is the juicy red apples. It’s as if I had bit into an apple and tasted the fresh juices just from the sweet aroma that runs across your pallet as you inhale. Pure deliciousness! Some apple scents can come across artificial but this here is a true apple fragrance. Craving the common autumn/fall like scents, I was beyond ready to light this one. Once lit, the cedar wood and green balsam notes become more active and aggressive demanding their roles to be noticed while the apple is still present and helps keep them at bay. Together they create a whimsical fragrance that if you closed your eyes it would leave you walking down a multi-colored leaf path, crunching leaves with every step of the way. The cedar wood adds a bit of a rustic scent into the blend allowing this scent to be different than just a plain Jane apple blend. In my review room of choice I was able to get a light to medium throw which is not as strong as I like but this could be from my candle being over a year old. The packaging on this candle is simple yet elegant.  Different stages of red fade and transition to the bottom of the candle jar followed by a basic label that reads “Autumn”.  The embellished lid is what finishes off this look and makes it special with the bronze maple leaves which scream the season.

Closing

Happy Fall Yall! I hope you enjoyed this review. Though it isn’t technically fall just yet, stores are cranking out the merchandise which is fine by me! To kick off this year’s goodies and treats Autumn seemed like a perfect transition scent to do so. This candle was from last year’s collection but the candle has returned in stores this year so keep your eyes peeled so you can snatch one for yourself! If you love fall and just aren’t crazy about all the cinnamon and pumpkin scents give this candle a try!

Opening Review:

Have I ever confessed how much of a Bath and Body work candle fanatic I am.. Okay well here it goes.. I have a problem! I am just loving every bit of their candles lately. I was in the store the other day and saw they had their Destination collection out. I glance upon the many different locations and colors until my eyes landed on gold. The wax was a creamy white covered with a silver lid. The beautiful blue designs of London stood out bold against the white wax. Once I read tea and lemon, I was sold before even taking a sniff but once smelling, I was hooked. I have to admit I left this candle a few times on account of the price, but I dreamed about smelling it again. Once the sell hit, you better believe I came back for this one!

Initial Sniff:

On cold sniff this candle smells more of an iced lemon tea then a hot tea. When I lit the candle, the scent transforms and gives off the opposite of its cold throw and smells of piping hot tea with sweet sugar stirred in by the spoonful’s and a squeeze of a fresh lemon wedge added in to combine the three together to create a beautiful fragrance. It has a very strong scent throw and continued to wow me all the way to the very bottom on last lite. This is definitely on my list of favorites that Bath and Body Works makes.

How the candle burned:

Once I let the candle completely pool out the first time, I had no other problems after that. The candle burned smoothly all the way to the bottom with no wasted wax.

Closing Review:

If you are a lover of tea and lemon then don’t hesitate to purchase this candle! I highly recommend this candle. My only regret is not buying more! I will for sure buy this candle again and again. What are you waiting for, head out to your local B&BW and pick up this scent!

Until Next Burn,

Scent Throw: 5/5 (could smell for several hours of being lit in my review room. (Medium bedroom))

Presentation: 5/5 (Beautiful picture of London in the background, great color scheme)

Burn Performance:  4/5 The wax gave me a little trouble at the beginning but once past the first few melts the candle burned clean all the way to the bottom.

Would I Repurchase?  Yes! I already have in 2 other candles and in a wallflower!
