Band Of Bloggers- July

As mid-summer approaches, my mind drifts to vacation times, getaways or mini excursions out and about. One tank trips. Parks to explore.

wp-image-528373082jpg.jpg

Do you take a summer vacation or do small getaways? What do you have planned? If not, what would be your ideal vacation or retreat? What are your favorite local haunts? Give us some places to check out!

A trip I am itching to go on is taking my husband to Universal Studios and Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was such a blast a few years back when I went during a family vacation. I know with the new additions (park) it is bound to be an even better and more thrilling experience especially when sharing those moments with him. I want him to experience and see all the things that I saw and lets face facts that I also just want to relive some of those amazing memories too!!  The 18+ hour car ride is a little less than ideal but in the end the pay off is worth it to have a frozen Butterbeer in hand while waving your wand in the other. My husband on the other hand has another cruise on the brain and that will probably be our next trip together. Either way I am ready for a nice vacation just the two of us!

I am not going to lie…. as summer starts revving up… I am catching myself not only daydreaming about vacation but also fall scents. I am sure it may be too early for some and others melt fall scents year ’round, but I must ask… where are you planning to order your fall smell goods from? It can be vendor wax, candles, bath and body or perfumes. Just spill!

BRING ON FALL!!!!

With fall type scents I usually start to get in the mood for melting them right around late August early September. Though if it could be fall year around I would love it! PUMPKIN DECOR EVERYWHERE and jacket weather always! Yet with scents I usually stick with seasonal melting when it comes to season scents with just the occasional melt here and there throughout the year as a comfort scent. I plan on placing my first Dessa’s Home Spun Scents order for some creamy pumpkin butter, blueberry waffles and spicy October goodness as I hear that her autumn melts are life changing. Also of course I plan on grabbing some of Brandi’s Fright Night collection from Super Tarts as they slowly start making their appearance back in stock.

Zeep Bath Mystery Box Un-Boxing

Zeep Bath’s wax has been on my radar for quite awhile now with all its hype and attention it has been receiving over the past several months. After missing out on the wax only restock and many previous failed attempts to purchase wax before, I was even more determined to get my hands on at least a mystery box to try a few of this vendors scents.

Than it happened. A day after the sale, Ashley had posted 11 more mystery boxes that she made and luckily I was able to snag one! 10 oz for $11 plus $4.50 shipping. Very reasonable with great shipping prices!

Ferris Wheel: Kettle Corn and Salt Water Taffy 6.5 oz

First melt I was able to smell upon opening the box. Popcorn/kettle corn is not my favorite thing in wax form. So I was a little hesitant when finding this in my box and in such a large quantity. First sniff it’s not as bad as I had feared though the popcorn is of course the most dominate. I’m hopeful that I will be able to melt this as the salt water taffy helps to mellow out the kettle corn making this into a scent that will be perfect as a transitioning melt into fall. As for now I mostly get popcorn on cold. I’ll give you guys an update as I melt!

Run Jungle: Tropical Fruits, Coconut, Rum and Toes in Your Sand.

Whew wee! Tropical! Grab your coconut bra and grass skirt we are going to a luau! Hand squeezed pineapple juice and coconut water blend together with a boozy undertone to create this mouth watering summer drink fragrance. Boy does this make me thirsty.

Beach Towels: Fresh Towels, Coconut & Lemongrass. 3.7-4.2 oz

Strong on the lemongrass and full of citrus and vibrant to awaken the senses yet kept at bay by the fluffy cotton towels to pull this back into a calming, relaxing aroma. So good!! I can’t wait to melt this one on account of its freshness and how it makes me just want to roll around in it and smell like beachy clean clothes.

The picture doesn’t show just how big this chunk really is. I’ve done a side by side comparison here with a Rose Girls chunk so that you can see the difference. Though I still do not think you are getting the full effect of how big this chunk really is.

Overall Mr. Meltdown & myself,  (As he as also stamped his approval on this box and loved every scent so far!) are very impressed with my first order/mystery box from Zeep and would love to snag one or two in the next restock! After some cure time I will be back with some melted reviews. If there are any you would like me to go into further detail please let me know!

Did you order anything this past restock? What are some of your favorite Zeep blends?

Until Next Restock,

Blank Label Mystery Box Un-Boxing! Cold Sniff Review

Blank Label Mystery Box Un-Boxing! Cold Sniff Review

Being a person who enjoys a good mystery whether it be in the form of a novel, show or movie I still have never been one to take leaps and strides to purchase mystery boxes of any kind..well because of the mystery! Sure there is a form of excitement when getting something at total surprise but knowing how things usually work out for me, everything in the box would be everything I hated. With this box for example, my fear would be an end result of a box full of patchouli, honey, sugar milk nightmares! Bleh!

Bravery stuck out in me the day I ordered this box as it was unlike me to go out on a limb and try a full box of wax from a vendor I’ve hardly melted from let alone not know what scents I would enjoy of theirs on top of not knowing the scents I would receive. So I have anxiously awaited this package, excited for its arrival. Who doesn’t at least get a little excited when they hear they have 30 oz of wax heading their way?!

A little about this box is that it retailed for $35 + shipping. Shipping was about $9 and change. The wax would include a mix of left over scents, test blends and upcoming scents that would either be in a mix of 4 packs, shapes, scent shots or bakery bags.

Let us dive right in and see what was in the box shall we?  These were all poured in early April so I will be letting them cure for a awhile.

4 packs:

Zero- Boo Berry Cotton Candy Frosted Cakes (Grey)

Boo Berry being the strongest, dominate note in this melt leaves the other notes unnoticed on cold. Usually I find that anything blended with BB, the rest of the notes gets completely lost or have to struggle to be noticed in the blend. We will see how this does once warmed but I am excited to give this a try come fall as that is usually when I crave BB most.

Unamers- Lemon Poppy seed Zucchini Bread (Yellow)

I have to admit when I saw zucchini in the name, my nose instantly scrunched. Though upon smelling it I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t the overbearing, in your face zucchini bread that I am used to. It’s light and creamy adding to the zesty lemon poppy.  I’ve only ever liked zucchini by one other vendor so this might be an exception to my no zucchini bread melting.

Unamers-Mango Marshmallow Milk (Orange)

Not my favorite on cold. Maybe it’s the milk? Maybe it’s the wang of the mango? I won’t tell you what this oddly smelled like to me on first initial sniff because I am sharing a piece of this with a friend and wouldn’t want to ruin it for her. I had my husband smell it and he said it smelled nothing like what I said so it must just be me. We’re in the clear. (Side note: I am not one for milk/sugar milk blends) I forced myself to investigate this further and found that it smelled of a kind of light baby formula/milky scent with a hint of mango.

Unamers- Coconut Citrus Pomegranate Sorbet (Blue)

Heavy on the coconut followed by a tartness of the citrus which I assume by the smell is a lemon lime is all I pick up on cold.

Large Shapes:

Unamers- Cherry Watermelon Candy Slushie  (x2)

These are supposed to be the same yet one smells better than the other. They also look different and if you see the one on the right is a bigger heart entirety. The one on the right fits the scent description perfectly and has more of an effervescence cherry slush note while the one on the left leaves me confused wondering if it truly is the same just lighter in scent? Do I hear a battle of the melts?

Scent Shots:

Fruit Mystery #1

Wowza. Ring-a-ding-ding! This is so fresh and fruity!! Of course I would love to re-order this one..but MYSTERY! 🙂

Moana of Motunui: Passion Fruit, Guava, Pink Mimosa Flowers, Tropical Fruit and More.

If I close my eyes it’s like I’m  sipping a fruity drink on the beach. Mouth watering guava and tropical fruits makes this the perfect summer melt.

Sample:

Your Mother And Mine- Buttery Vanilla, Lush Blackberry and Bright Lemon.

This reminds me of a blackberry vanilla fudge my grandma has made in the past. Rich, thick and creamy like a fudge would be without the cocoa note instead replaced by a heavy whipping cream vanilla and as mentioned above, Lush, fresh blackberry. So good, so so good. Can not wait to melt this.

All in all I was impressed with my options in melts. No patchouli so A+!! The shapes are gorgeous, colors are very vibrant and never hurts to have that added glitter.  My only complaint is that some of the labels were hard to read since they didn’t appear to print entirely or smudged off but as for the wax I am excited to give it a go once they have time to sit possibly a few weeks to a month.

Please let me know if there are any scents above that you would like a further review on, I would be happy to go more in depth.

As Always, Until Next Melt

Band of Bloggers: May

May is a turning point in the year for a lot of people. The school year is almost over, summer is coming soon, and those mild months will soon become scorchers. The birthstone of May is the emerald, which symbolizes love and success. This month, we’re focusing on those two things!

We all love something with all our hearts, so tell us what you love the most. It could be the story of how you met your spouse/significant other, where you got your pet, or a nod to your parental units.

This is a hard one as there is just too many things to be thankful for as I just love so many things in life. I love my loving husband, I love the Lord, my family, my friends, my interest and passions in life (including this crazy world of wax!), blogging, laughing, loving, sharing, caring, smiling, shopping, collecting, memory making, game playing, cooking, organizing, decorating, the list could just go on and on!

In terms of success, and keeping it blog related, have you ever participated in and/or completed a successful “project wax” or spring wax/perfume/makeup/scented product purge?

I haven’t really done anything official but I have put a nice dent in my wax stash as of late clearing out and organizing 2 almost 3 drawers in my Sterilite storage bins drawer. Very proud of myself with what all I have melted through and that I have made room for my new goodies that are coming in soon! I think it is time for me to cut myself off from buying until I can get through some of what I have when my new stuff comes in.

cropped-20160730_174724.jpg

Have you ever had so much product you felt the need to use it all up before you bought again?

Yes. Yes to my standards of a lot. To some other collectors of wax my overwhelming bit of collection is probably mediocre. I like to keep my “stash” if you will, at a comfortable, controllable level while also having it where I can feel like I’m “shopping” around in it to have plenty to choose from without being bored and to have fun goodies to send out in swaps. Like I said above, I am slowly getting overwhelmed by all the orders I’ve been placing and they haven’t even got to me yet for me to determine how much wax it is and where it will all be stored. I still feel the need to slow down and enjoy what I have coming to me now before I order more.

The MeltdownBlog Turns One!

As of yesterday, The MeltdownBlog is now a year old! It feels like just yesterday I decided to go on this adventure we call  blogging. Time sure does fly when your having fun! I hope you have enjoyed reading along as much as I have enjoyed  sharing it with you all and getting to know most of you other bloggers. I have grown over the year to love vendor wax either as much if not more than candles, branched out in trying new scents I never thought I would like such as shaving cream blends and bakery. (In the past I wouldn’t go near anything that was food fragranced.)

To celebrate I thought I would post a link to my very first blog and a throw back to a few of my first orders along the way.

Since I’ve been a little ST obsessed here recently, here is a throw back to my very first order from them. Lord of Mordor still stands as one of my favorites to this day! Sample in Treebeard.

My first vendor experience was with Front Porch Candle Co. Ease of ordering and free shipping really had me hooked at first. I  will still suggest if you are new to the wax world to start with a vendor such as Front Porch or Eagle Rock.

The 2nd wax vendor that I ordered from was Eagle Rock Candle Co and this was the first order I placed with them. My favorite being the 7-up Pound Cake and Monkey Farts while the Leather Jacket being a favorite of my husbands.

If you’ve followed me from the beginning, my used to be favorite melt from Front Porch was her Pink Peppermint Lavender  which is what I’m melting here in my profile picture. I’ve melted it so much that it would probably make me ill now but I use to rave about it. This warmer being my first warmer and that it was given to me by my mother means so much to me while all the while being so beautiful.
